The Medical Bankruptcy Fairness Act of 2021 was recently introduced into the Senate. It proposes major changes to the Bankruptcy Code, including the dischargeability of student loan debt. The Senate is unlikely to consider it until the middle of the year or later.
The American Rescue Plan authorizing $1,400.00 stimulus payments to many individuals was passed on March 11, 2021. However, unlike the first round of stimulus checks issued last year, the new stimulus money will be subject to garnishment by an individual's creditors.
